My husband and I have recently been on a four months holiday to Australia ..We have lived in WA for twelve years, but this was twenty years ago!
On this trip we travelled to lots of places we have never been and saw lots of fantastic sights.Nature gave us experiencies we never dreamt of.
In Cairns we met some friends, we hadn´t seen for 30 years! These people talked about a place called "Paronella Park",that they thought was amazing! "You must go there" were their Farewell-words to us!
We had no idéa what to expect, when we drove up outside the entrance! You could not see anything from the road.We were met in the carpark by Luke Evans, the owner.
In his very personal way, he welcomed us and told us that there was a garantie to the visit. If we thought at the end of our visit ,that it had not been special we would get our money back!
We found out ,that the admission included a night´s stay in the caravanpark, and decided to book in for the night.
In the afternoon we went on the guided "The Dream continues Tour" of the Park with all this entails. We were told the amazing story of José and his dream. And as we wandered through the grounds with the gardens and the buildings ,through the rainforrest , The Kauri Avenue and saw the castle, the waterfall, the long staircase with its 47 steps, the story filled our imagination. One can but admire this man ,who never gave up! The place is like a dream still and it filled all our senses, from head to toe.
We decided to walk through The Bamboo Forrest before returning and saw turtles, fish and birds and came back to our camper with a feeling of amazement and tranquility.
My husband had a sore foot and had done enough walking ,but I decided to join "The Darkness Falls Tour " as well.We found the daytour amazing but it was nothing compared to the night one! With our torches we followed Luke ,the owner who guided us on this one.The Park looked different at night and we saw bandicoots and rare bats. The highlight of the tour was to see the castle with the waterfountains floodlit to the accompaniment of chimes.
The whole concept is overwhelming, and I think the best part of it is that it´s hidden from the road,so visitors really have the surprise of their lives the first time they come for a visit! I know we did!
We would love to come back when the power from the hydro electricity generator will light up the whole park at night!I feel quite assured that Luke and his team won´t stop until this dream is fulfilled!
