We didn't know what to expect either.

We (Wim, Aad, Anja and I) went to Cairns for a holiday last year. We rented a campervan and just toered around Queensland.

Then when we were somewhere near Petronella Park, someone in a small town said that we could stay the night there.

When we arrived at the parkinglot, i think it was you who, started chatting about the park, which made us feel welcome. So we decided to stay.....
After we parked the campervan at the top under the orange/grape tree we had a little walk around. We visited the toerist center and were told that we could join a site toer... We tought ok, lets do that. The lady - sorry I have forgotten her name - she told us the history about the buildings. I could just imagine people in those days all dressed up, dancing around.
If I think about the buildings I still get the shivers. If only the walls could talk. Then we went around to the falls, which just takes your breeth away!! So much water, so much power..... you could see down to where the people in those days sat on the terras and had their martinies.. After we went down the stairs (pfff) we were shown around the grounds here, passed the changing rooms, round the pond, through the cave?? where the bats were. All very exciting, we didn't expect that there would be so much to see and the lady that told us the story about this place just made it all sparkel - ashame that there where no clothes left from those years, just imagine walking around there (as toerist) and people dressed up glide by...

After the toer we bought the wine - which was just great, so sweet..... sitting at our campsite, we chatted all about this place and that you wouldnn't have expected this on the outside.

I need to send you some photos, but I'll just have to look for them first seeing that we are in the middel of redoing our house.

I hope that all is well there and that the toerists keep on coming. If I hear someone saying that they are going to visit Aussie land. I always say that they must visit Petronella Park - and that it would suprise them how beutiful it is.

If I ever go back there you would surly see me again...

Greetings Angela
