Whilst travelling around Australia in the summer of 2006, myself, my boyfriend, my sister and her friend were recommended Paronella Park by some enthusiastic friends in Melbourne, who has told us the story of the place with such animation and vigour we simply had to check it out for ourselves. It was everything we expected, and much, much more! Arriving in our camper van, 4 rather grubby and weary travellers, we were greeted by a friendly guide that instantly made us feel at home. Whilst the tour of the Park itself was fascinating, it wasn't until we we wandered around for ourselves, through paths lined with majestic tall straight trees reaching into the clear blue sky, discovering fairytale castles and secret nooks and crannies, feeding the frenzy of fish in the lake, that we realised just how magical and unique the curious place really was. Showing friends and family back home the photographs, it is hard to capture the playful and uplifting spirit of Paronella Park. It may be the other side of the world, but if you want to experience it, my advice to people is always to go see it for themselves.
